From your attic to a needy home, one wish at a time
The Wish Project provides clean new and reused items to 35,000 needy in the Merrimack Valley of MA each year. We are working hard to ensure that every person in need has the basic things they need to live, eat, work, play and thrive. Simple things like shoes for school or having a bed to sleep in, mean a more successful day at school and work. Every couch we provide is one more family thriving in that first year out of shelter and one less in the landfill. We are working to end hardship in the short term and help end homelessness in the long term. Of the 1,000 families that get their apartments furnished each year 87% are still housed three years later.

For the recently homeless clients that we help, obtaining housing is wonderful, but the next financial hurdle is furnishing the apartment. The Wish Project furnishes more than 700 of these apartments each year right down to the curtains and dishes. Thanks to donors like, hundreds of families have their basic needs met in that first year and are able to work their way out of homelessness permanently. In addition to helping those in need, we are saving the environment by recycling hundreds of tons of goods. Each couch we provide is one less in the landfill.
We cannot end poverty but we can greatly reduce the sting of it on our local kids by making sure they have what they need. Most of the coats, furniture and baby gear that we provide are being reused because someone like you was done with it. Every day, dozens of local people in need place wishes for items as basic as a bed with our organization and most of these wishes are granted. We believe in helping people and the planet at the same time.
We have a simple system. Wishes are placed online by the 750 case workers in our network all over the Merrimack Valley in MA. An email confirmation packet is sent and the clients or caseworkers have 60 days to pick up the items. Caseworkers do enough paperwork. They know their clients needs best and this simple online referral system means more time is spent providing care while knowing that the babies have diapers and the kids have beds.
Rest assured the people we help are in genuine need, their referral is by local homeless shelters, elder services, veteran programs, early intervention programs and other agencies. Thanks to donors like you, each year we provide more than 30,000 people of all ages with: bedroom, living room and kitchen furniture, rugs, dishes and all kitchen goods, appliances of all sizes, towels, beds and bedding, and more.

Our Own Wish: To own our own building. Currently, we rent warehouse space. Owning our own warehouse would give us long term sustainability. We are looking for 3 acres of land or a 40,000 sq. ft. building near our current location that is zoned industrial, and in or close to Lowell.
